Stressing as always.

My wife bought burgers from butcher she said eat them by day 3 or freeze them so I froze them on day 3. She got her days mixed and was actually day 5 the day they were frozen.

I defrosted them and cooked them for. My kids earlier. They are age 4 and 8.

I have been stressing and worrying that they are likely to get sick for burgers in fridge 5 days! I read 1-2 days max in fridge.

Are they likely to get sick?

Unless they smelled off or had visible mould I’m sure it will be ok. Meat from the butchers tends to be fresher than pre packaged and you will have cooked them thoroughly. I’d be more wary with chicken or pork but beef I wouldn’t be overly concerned.

You gave them burgers for breakfast ?

No this was yesterday. She told me this morning it was 5 days ago so we both panicked as I know food poisoning can take few days sometimes to show symptoms.

OK thank you. Been stressing all day! And will likely worry until another couple days I'm sure until I know past most incubation period

They'll be fine. And if they're not fine, they'll be sick for a bit.

Undethetree · 22/02/2024 18:37

They will be fine!

RosesAndHellebores · 22/02/2024 18:41

They will be fine but I read that as giving a burger that was four years old to a child that had been in the fridge. I thinknyou gave a burger that had been in the fridge to a four year old child and that the child hadn't been in the fridge.

If it smells OK and looks a decent colour, it's fine. The burger, not the child.

Maybe you could look into some help for your anxiety? Yeah it's not ideal they are burgers that had been in the fridge for four days but it's also no biggie generally - it's certainly not worthy of you 'stressing all day'

OwlWheresYourTowel · 22/02/2024 18:49

And you open your post with 'stressing as always'

Doesn't sound like a whole heap of fun to have to live with
