Baby growth spurt at 2 weeks old???

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

My baby boy is currently 15 days old and I think he must be going through a growth spurt! The health visitor has been today and it seems he has shot up from 9lb on Friday to 9lb 15oz today!

He usually takes between 2-4oz formula every 3 hours but since Sunday has started taking up to 5oz and sometimes would probably take more! Sometimes is hungry after 2 hours too. He's also been a lot more restless than usual. Before he would be brilliant at napping during the day but we've been lucky to get a decent nap for the last 2 days. Thankfully he settles at night! He's very wriggly and squirmy and a lot of the time when I do settle him, within 5 minutes of putting him down he's awake again.

Today was only the 2nd day of my husband being back at work and I will admit I struggled a bit.

Did anyone else's baby go through a growth spurt as early as 2 weeks old? I thought it was maybe a bit too early?

Thanks ☺️

Babies ARE a growth spurt.

Your baby sounds like they are adjusting great to the outside world, but babies are all in the biggest growth spurt of their lives and their only, only job is to eat as much as possible, digest, and sleep as much as possible to allow for it. Digesting can be uncomfortable so they sometimes need your help with it, even when asleep. Being alone can feel vulnerable and cold so they prefer to be on you to divert all their attention to growing.

you’re doing great!
