Book on puberty for an 8 year old girl

I’m looking for recommendations for a book on puberty for my 8 year old DD (she’s in Year 4 and almost 9). There’s lots of books on Amazon but it’s hard to see what would be suitable.

DD has known the facts of life for a couple of years now (the differences between girls and boys; a brief overview of puberty; how babies are made), but recently has been asking questions about periods, how her body will change etc. I’ve done my best to answer but think a book with more details would be helpful.

I’m looking for a book that explains the biology of puberty in a factual way, focuses on the changes for girls but includes information about boys, and covers the emotional changes as well. It needs to be suitable for her age, so shouldn’t cover things like relationships and safe sex ( I’d expect these topics in a book for teenagers). It should be British so it’s using the language we use and not mention junior high, high school etc.

If anyone can recommend something that fits this criteria, I’d be very grateful!

Milli Hill's book on periods is really good - although from memory I think it is very much periods, not sure whether it deals with the other stuff you've mentioned.

Adam Kay’s book is good. It’s a whole biology book so includes various medical info but does have a chapter on reproduction. It’s funny and factual.

I got this book for my 9 year old and I found it perfect for a range of things it discusses emotions, relationships (not sexual ones), body hair and periods. No mention of boys though I think just looking at the girls changes is enough for now.

Start with Kay's Anatomy on Audible - very informative and so funny with different characters representing parts of the body. Then for more depth on puberty etc, Usborne What's Happening to Me (there are separate girl and boy versions but they do have a short section on the opposite sex too).

We liked Robert Winston's Guide to Growing Up. Very informative on lots of issues.

I know it says slightly older but we always read it together and it really is very good.

'Hair in funny places' was good. Can get books with lots of questions in them.

Thanks everyone! @pallyloo - that book looks ideal and is for the right age range, so I’ll try that one first.

@EllieQ I read the part about periods with my daughter and then left her to read the rest and ask questions. She laughed about it to be honest and asked plenty of questions, stated it wasn't fair and then accepted it all. Went better than I expected.
