Can anyone recommend a good cot bed please? I have a soon to be one year old and I’m in need of a new one. One that will last a while and isn’t too expensive. Thanks in advance

Sorry no. We had one given to us and just bought a new mattress. Have you had a look to see if anyone is giving them away in your area?

Check if your cot converts to a bed, but if not, we also got ours secondhand and bought a new mattress.

Is it the cot or the bed element you're wanting. We just moved our 1 year old straight into a low single bed.

We had an IKEA cot. Good value, decent quality- couldn’t complain. Can take the sides off to use as a toddler bed. I don’t think you can go wrong with IKEA!

If your 1YO has already climbed out of the cot you might be better going for a single bed with a guard though, as it saves another purchase in a couple of years.

Mine was from John Lewis. I liked it because the bed came with smaller head/footboards so you don't have the massive cot ones when the side panels aren't needed (which don't look as nice IMHO).

I would look second hand to be honest. We picked one up for £20ish. It's a good solid wooden bed. We went for a 140cm one which means I can sleep in it too as I'm only 158cm myself.

Thank you everyone, I’ve looked online and decided to go with the ikea SMÄGÖRA cot. This should last a few years as the side comes off and turns into a cot bed

my little one is nearly one so still needing a cot just wanted to get a cot bed as when he’s older it’ll last a good few years

We bought a solid oak one online from a brand called East Coast - it's really solid. My son moved into it at 6 months and it's still in perfect condition 3 years later. We got it in a sale for around £150. My MIL bought a cheaper cot bed for us to use at hers - it's fine for occasional use but much more flimsy.

That was the cot we had OP. It did the job perfectly!
