Reflux in 5 month old - what to try?

My little boy will be five months this coming weekend. He’s always struggled with reflux, throwing up after every feed. Doctor had him on gaviscon around 3 months but it bunged him up so much he was screaming in pain trying to do a poo so we stopped it.

his reflux got a lot better but the past week it’s been awful! Every single feed he’s like projectile brining it back up. I’m constantly covered in sick and he has a lottttt of outfit changes a day as he’s covered in it and a bib isn’t catching it!

Is there anything I can give him for this? My first didn’t have this problem at all so this is new to me.

I know this happens with babies but it’s every single feed and a lot of it!!

any help would be appreciated! Thank you ☺️

Try gaviscon again. They might be able to tolerate it better now. My daughter started on it at 6 weeks and it made her constipated. She was on a lot at 5 months and had to have lactulose with it for the constipation but we only needed this for a few weeks and she was able to wean off the lactulose without constipation.

Omperazole would be a good option too. My daughter needed the highest dose but she has stubborn reflux that she still hasn't outgrown at 3.5

Her reflux isn't linear. She goes through periods where it is better controlled and other times when it is wildly out of control. Things that trigger her are growth spurts, allergies, teething and colds.

Have you explored cmpa because that can commonly cause reflux as can tongue ties and fast letdowns.
