When/how do 18 year olds get the child trust fund?

Hello,
My ds is 18 in a couple of weeks and I wondered how he gets his child trust fund? All that's in there is the government money. We/he hasn't had any letters about it. Do they send the money when you're 18 or how exactly does he access it? We know who the provider is, but not the exact amount.
Thanks for any help

Go on .gov.uk site and search child trust fund. I think it tells you there

It will be interesting to find out how much it has grown since you only had the gov money and haven't added to it.

From the age of 16 your son will be able to access it and see how much is in it.
