Potty training help?!

I have no idea where to being or what to do with potty training my youngest (2yo)

My eldest (now 4yo) was so easy. She never showed any signs of being ready like telling us when she did or needed to wee/poo. Never tugged or took off her nappy. Just one day we had her cousin of the same age over and she was potty trained already and DD told me the morning after that she wants to be a big girl like DCousin and use the big girl toilet. She’s been dry day and night since. We didn’t do anything at all.

Now my 2yo has spent the last 3 days tugging at his nappy, wearing it below his bum constantly despite me pulling it up all the time, he’s done a poo over the top of his nappy where it pulled down and it’s gone everywhere😅 but he doesn’t talk yet, so he doesn’t tell us if/when he needs to go so I’m not sure how potty training will work if we don’t know when he needs to go on it?

Any advice? We haven’t got a potty but we’re getting one today as we have a toilet training sets that he just doesn’t like to sit on, he sits too far forward on the edge and panics if we sit him back any further so I don’t want to push him and fill him with fear 😅

Would really recommend Pirate Pete and the Potty. My son still reads it months later! 😅

According to Mumsnet the only way to potty train is Oh Crap. I instead read Amanda Jenner's Potty Training Magic - got it free on the library app.

Best of luck. It was absolutely horrendous but my son got it after 3 days of accidents.

If he doesn’t talk yet, could he sign for the toilet/potty instead?

Pirate Pete Potty was a big hit here too.

Maybe just watch for him starting to wee/poo with the nappy down initially if he is pulling it down himself anyway, and keep the potty close by so you can quickly take him to sit there each time? Then see if he starts making the connection himself?
