Did you know when you were ‘done’

Just a curious question really!

I have 2DC, eldest 2.5, youngest is 1.5 weeks old :)

soaking up this newborn bubble again and not thinking about having another anytime soon but I just have this weird feeling of ‘I’m not done”?

Me and DH said we’d have a chat and make a decision on trying for a 3rd when our now newborn is heading to school as we’d like a slightly bigger gap, and we wouldn’t want to risk all 3 in nursery at same time or 2 in nursery again (which we’ll have for a year or two now)

of course if things are going well in our jobs like they are and we potentially move I think we’ll decide to try for a 3rd

but as I’ve got a boy and a girl I’ve had so many comments how our family is complete and it may well be! But o think I’m open to a 3rd I don’t feel fully done yet!

Did you get the ‘I’m done’ feeling or did you not get it?? And had another or more etc

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I feel done. DD2 is 9 months, and I’m totally fine with the idea that I’ll never be pregnant/ have a newborn ect.

That wasn’t the case after DD1.

I always assumed I’d have 2, though, so I’m not sure if that feeling would have changed if I’d imagined more or fewer kids.

I didn’t have DC2 till I was early 40s so sort of had to be done after her (also no space/money for more!). Despite all that I still had flashes of not being done up till she was 1 ish. I think it was probably hormonal and feel very much done and happy now she’s 3.

Same as you really. Had a girl and boy in quick succession. Felt very stretched for a while but never ‘done’. Got pregnant with dc3 when dc2 turned three. Immediately knew that baby would be out last and felt completely ‘done‘ when she arrived.

I never got it, but when DH said that he didn’t want any more I had to accept it.

Two, boy and girl, 2 years apart, and I knew I was done as soon as my daughter was born. Had a tubal ligation a year later.

Not straight away.

I always thought I'd have three, but my husband said he was done after two. I figured I'd let it settle until DC2 was about the same age as DC1 was when we decided to try for DC2 and see how I felt then.

Then was a few months ago now, and I am completely done. It hasn't helped that DC2 has been a particularly difficult child. We've been giving away all our old baby stuff without a hint of sadness, and I can't even begin to imagine being pregnant or having a newborn again.
