For those that pay for babysitting, can I ask where you found your babysitter please? I’m quite apprehensive to use one as I’ve never left my children (1&2) with someone who isn’t a family member however I’m sure it can’t hurt to have a look.

Are there any specific apps that you’ve found someone on? Pls let me know!

Bubble - I generally target teachers from other countries looking to make some extra cash for travelling - so up to date DBS, good English and used to managing multiple kids - but I have 3 pre-teens so it's a bit more crowd management in my house.

For younger, you might want to see if any nursery workers want extra hours.

I use sitters and have done for 2/3 years now. Never had a problem.

We use staff from our children’s nursery

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 16/02/2024 21:43

Are you on local mum wheats app groups? Ask there if anyones nanny or childminder does babysitting

ProjectKettle · 16/02/2024 21:52

Following as we are in the same area but our nursery has a clause in the t&cs that says staff are not allowed to babysit so that isnt an option for us.

MinnieTruck · 16/02/2024 21:55

Sitters seems like a great website, I like the look of it. I’m not on a Whatsapp group with any other parents or anything. Hopefully I can meet someone reliable who can help out here and there.

Both of my kids have disabilities/additional needs too so it’s important to meet the right person that they gel with

havent used yet as still precious over my Newley 5 month old son - but when the time comes we have a friends recommendation lined up! We live London/Surrey borders

nannynick · 16/02/2024 22:02

I'm in Surrey, not west London, and parents find me via Childcare.co.uk usually (sometimes via Mumsnet). I have also met families via Facebook local group in the past.

I am not on Bubble or Sitters. I meet families prior to babysitting. I care for children on the autistic spectrum, and very young babies (currently writing this with two month old twins in their cots), as well as toddlers. Having the same person come each time can be important for some children and parents.
