Toilet/potty training - help/tips

Hi all

Our DD turns three in a month. We have been trying potty/toilet training for about 2 months now but making zero progress. Before we went nappyless we introduced books (No More Nappies etc) and so she understands what the potty and toilet are for, and she does know when she needs to go as she says 'need toilet'. However shejust will not 'release' when put on the toilet or potty and just cries, this inevitibly leads to her holding it in (clearly uncomfortably) until she has an accident in her undies. This is not just at home but at nursery aswell.

We thought that after she had a few accidents and realised it was not nice then she would want to use the potty or toilet, but this is not the case.

Is this just standard and we just need to let it take its course or is there something we could try or any tips?

Thanks

Personally I'd put her back in nappies but cloth ones if you can so she feels wet when she wees. Disposables are fine though if not.

Give her a break from potty training and try again when you've got a few days at home with her. Maybe leave Easter Weekend quite low key and stay at home and try again them when you've both had some time to relax?
