30 funded hours dates to apply

So we've been unable to apply for tax free childcare and the funded hours for our 3 year old due to my partner earning just over 100k this tax year. In the next tax year he won't reach the threshold so we want to claim for it, however the tax year runs to 6th April and you need to apply prior to the 1st April to submit an application and get a code for the spring term and give it to nursery otherwise you don't get it until summer term when she'll be going to school.
Any advice on how to get it for spring term when I can't tick a box to say right now that we are eligible? Two kids in 3 day a week nursery is killing us.

Does his salary minus pension contributions come to under 100k? If not can he make extra contributions so it brings him under the 100k threshold?

Have you looked at the application? I thibj they ask about future earnings. Also it’s adjusted net 100k so minus pension contributions etc. you might have been able to apply already.
