Analogue vs digital watch dilemma

Hello, my son is turning six in a couple of weeks and I had (for once) been incredibly organised and ordered a Flik Flak time teacher analogue watch for him personalised with his name on the strap. It's really cool! And has been waiting in the cupboard for his birthday. However - typically, not long after I ordered it, he saw his friend with a digital Casio watch and has decided only digital watches are cool and that that's all he wants! I was hoping it was just a phase but he's only become more adamant that he only wants a digital watch.

What would you do? Part of me wants to go ahead and give him the Flik Flak as it's so nice and I know he'll love the look of it, even if he does have to learn to tell the time with it. I mean that's the point of it right? But equally - I remember that sick disappointment as a kid when you opened a present and it was absolutely not what you'd wanted/asked for. We have the means to buy an inexpensive Casio digital... unsure which way to go...

Could he have 2 gifts?
Is a reason I always bought gifts as late as possible.
Never could understand the safety of buying Christmas gifts in July or October, etc.

Thanks @lljkk , that's an idea.

Safe to say I won't be buying gifts early ever again 😂

yeah, especially at age 6-7yo.
DS was mad keen about Ben10 stuff. I mean constant natter clothes toys etc.

6th or 7th birthday, 2 or 3 weeks before, he went completely off of Ben10.
About half of his birthday gifts were Ben10 items (not from us, from party goer friends, I mean).
He didn't want any of it.

Is what they do (!!)
