How do I deal with her not getting Easter eggs? I have agreed with her that she will have a present instead of chocolate and she was ok-ish with that. But I have bought eggs for my other 2 kids as they have had a hard time since DD2's diagnosis. Now I feel a bit guilty.

Also I'm no sure what relatives will do! Help!

I'd tell everyone that as one is diabetic they aren't to buy eggs unless they are diabetic eggs. Can people not put towards a day out for the family instead?

I wouldn't have bought the other two eggs myself if she couldn't have them, but thenI'm not particularly enthralled with the idea of my children being inundated with chocolate anyway.

Some supermarkets do diabetic eggs and chocolate.

How old is she?

My DD2 can't have chocolate (not diabetic but medical reason) and her elder sister now knows she can't have chocolate either at Easter as I thought it wasn't fair on DD2. We buy them a present instead, or have a non-chocolate treat. Family know that we have a no-choc rule as well and buy them a book, DVD or give them money towards something. Lasts much longer than an egg!

You can get diabetic chocoltae eggs though if you still want to go with something chocolatey (but personally I think they are horrid, they taste very chemical-y!)

Emily - who said she can't have any chocolate?

I'm diabetic, have been since childhood, and i can eat chocolate so long as i have extra insulin to cover it. When i was little my diabetic nurse used to say that at Christmas or Easter running a bit high for a day wasn't gonna do any long term damage. is she on novorapid? i used to get say a buttons egg and then some money. One brother used to get the same and the other one kicked up a fuss and he got just sweets!

Diabetic choc is foul and gives u the dumps!

Beware of relatives! I had one who bought my brothers chocolate at easter and gave me an apple !!!
