Toddler speaking well at home but not with other people

Hi all,
DS (2y5m) is being raised bilingual (xh speaks to him in his native language) while I speak to him in English. He seems to be grasping both languages and can say words and follow instructions in both (more so English as he spends most of his time with me).
I was worried he may have a slight speech delay but he’s started speaking much more the past few months and speaking small sentences. HV had no concerns at his check and he seems to get new words each day.

The thing is he barely speaks in front of other people apart from me or his dad. I take him to playgroups almost every day and days out with my friends with toddlers of similar ages. He's very sociable and enjoys playing with the other children at playgroup but rarely talks with them. Some family members have hinted they think he has a speech delay as he’s quiet in front of them but at home with me he talks a lot. He’s also very tall for his age and most people think he’s a lot older when they first see him, I had one woman shocked he wasn’t speaking yet until I informed her he had just turned two at the time.

Any advice greatly appreciated. I read to him every night. :)

He is fine. Don't worry about it. He will speak to others when he is ready

Exactly the same here. My 2yr2 month girl is being raised bilingual, but doing much better with talking than I expected due to bilingual. She speaks lots of single words and a few 2 or 3 word phrases at home. And is very loud. At nursery she rarely says a word and is much quieter, but very chilled and joins in with lots of things. I'm not worried at all though

Thanks both! Know I shouldn’t take notice of other comments but some family member ones have been getting on my nerves. If only they could hear him at home!
