DD is 3 weeks old tomorrow

today since about mid day she’s been on and off quite frequent ! But now since about 5 she’ll scream and knaw at her hands, then she’ll feed for 5 mins, fall asleep on the boob and wake as soon as I move her !

is she not getting enough? Everytime she wakes she wants feeding again but is now only doing short feeds

sorry I’ve never Bf before so have no idea

Sounds like cluster feeding! They tend to do this in the evening for a few weeks, where it seems like they've never eaten before and constantly want the boob. It's a phase. But just go with it! :)

Totally normal OP. Make sure you have drinks, snacks, MN and the remote control nearby. Put your feet up and just let her feed as much as she wants.

Congratulations too Flowers

Yes, this is very normal. Sounds like cluster feeding. Exhausting but normal! You could try gently blowing on her face, tickling her feet or doing skin to skin to try keep her awake a little longer whilst she’s feeding before she falls asleep.

Yep agree on cluster feeding. This is what people call the witching hour, for good reason.

Your body will make enough milk for baby, just keep feeding on demand every time and make sure you're staying fed, hydrated and as well rested/relaxed as you can. Your partner's job is now to be your servant and bring you copious amounts of cheese on toast/fill your water bottle 700 times a day.

Breastfeeding can be really tough at the start but keep going! It gets so much easier and is such a wonderful comfort for them as well as food.

It’s totally normal! I’ve had two friends message me at three weeks asking what was going on. This post is really helpful:

I don't know if this article on what to expect in the early weeks is of any use?

And this one on cluster feeding and fussy evenings Flowers
