My brother is taking my kids out for the day tomorrow so I have a whole day to myself. (DH is away with work). I'm so excited about it I can't decide what to do? It's been about 5yrs since I had a day like this.

If it were you, what would you do?

You can come look after my kids instead so I can have a day to myself

notnowbernard · 21/03/2008 19:17

I'd go to the cinema

Maidamess · 21/03/2008 19:19

I moan I never have any time to myself....then when it is presented to me, I drift aimlessly about the house, sighing, and end up watching the shopping channels.

All deeply unsatisfactory.

sit in a cafe with coffee and cake and book, watch the world go by.

Go into make-up shop and try out all the colours - you cant normally because dc get bored

Paint nails

have a long bath

Surfermum · 21/03/2008 19:22

I'd go shopping then to a pub or cafe and have a very large glass of wine and read the paper.

I always go to the cinema when I have any time to myself. Alone. I love sitting there all by myself in the dark not having to consider anyone else.

Gym and steam room and Sunbed - because you have time to do all of them for once.

Glass of wine and take away to myself in the evening.

Bliss.

have a coffee in a coffee shop (along with pre-requisite cake), get your hair washed and cut, pop into a bookshop/clothes shop (but only one or two) then stop off in the library for a good uninterrupted read. Home to easy meal of food that no-one else likes but you likes in your family, nice bought dessert and a good video. Hot bath, bed. (can you tell I have been planning this for a while?)

jennifersofia · 21/03/2008 19:37

Oh - don't worry too much about the children!

Thanks for the advise.

Decided on:

Morning doing not alot. Maybe have a bath.
Lunch with friends and a few glasses of wine at local pub and then shopping in town.
Might even fit in the cinema if still time.

Can't wait.

you need to ask?

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 21/03/2008 21:27

very . have a great time.

I often wonder what DH and I used to DO with all that leisure time before the DCs. Hours and hours and hours of it every single weekend!
