DC3 tumbled down fireman's pole & smashed foot - how long to heal (and hand hold)

I'm rocking between just being devastated that I'm such a crap mum and freaking out about work.

DC3 didn't grip onto the fireman's pole at the playground they'd done a thousand times before. I didn't realise they were coming down, distracted and talking. Massive bump and scream.

Had it x rayed and no broken bones but they still can't put their foot down. So a bad sprain.

Has anyone had anything similar? How long did it take to heal? What did you do about nursery?

Dd has done this- bit older but same sort of incident. Can you get a rehab boot ( those grey things that look like a ski boot ? Not sure if they make them small enough but they are a game changer because allows weight bearing while healing.

Walking boots aren’t generally recommended, especially for children as they can create hip problems as one leg is longer than the other!

Best treatment for a sprain is pain relief, rest, ice, elevation.

Thanks, both. @LaPalmaLlama - how long did it take to heal? Do you remember?

I feel so shit that I wasn't watching

It was an accident.
These things happen in a split second so even if your had never taken your eyes off her it would still have happened . Stop beating yourself up.
Pain relief, rest, ice and elevation.. which to be clear means her foot should be raised above the level of her hip.. not just off the floor!
.. bit of a dramatic title!!

Ah ok- wasn’t aware of that. Dd was older when she had hers and she only had it on a few days.

OP, probably about a week before she could bear weight and a couple of weeks until back to normal.
