10 week old sleep/feeds

Looking for some advice!

My 10 week old has to be woken for a feed during the night, otherwise she would happily sleep through. Normally this is last feed 10pm and we wake her to feed again after 6 hours or so.

HV has advised we must continue to wake every 4 hours? Not for any medical
reason, just that we should still be waking her through the night like we did when she was first born.

9lb 1 at birth and now over 12lbs, sitting on 75th centile, feeds very well and taking normally 5 ozs, 6-7 feeds in 24 hours (depending on this night feed). Otherwise bright and happy.

Anyone else just let their baby sleep when they want to overnight at this stage when weight etc healthy?

Thanks

At 10 weeks I would definitely be letting baby sleep through. Could you try it for a night? You might find baby takes all the milk they need throughout the following day if you let them sleep through, resulting in less broken sleep for you and baby, with baby still getting what they need. I think both of mine were sleeping through at that point and then taking maybe 7/8 bottles in the day, so quite frequent feeds.

I don't really know why a HV would suggest that unless there were weight gain issues although I'm not an expert.

Thank you for reply.

Shes such a good feeder so we have no worries at all about that and her weight gain is correct according to HV as well.

Seems wrong to be waking her still when she wants to sleep! Will try it out for a night and see

I was told if weight gain is fine, no need to wake for a feed.

Mine was sleeping through at that age (10pm to 6-ish)

I woke my daughter every 3h until she had regained her birth weight and then every 4h for another week to make sure she was following a line as she had dropped to the 9th percentile. Then I fed on demand overnight which was every 2h this was about 4 weeks so definitely by 10 weeks let them sleep!

My dad was very premature and came home at 8weeks/36 weeks gestation. My nan was meant to wake him for feeds but she never did but kept quiet about it. His weight gain didn't suffer
