Safe sleep in cot

Hi everyone,

My baby is now in her cot as she's grown out of her next to me! Tonight is her first night in it, I searched the whole town looking for a baby sleeping bag but couldn't find one ANYWHERE, I've ordered ones online that are arriving tomorrow! In his Moses basket & next to me I would of gave him blankets and safely tucked them in with his arms out, but I didn't feel too comfortable doing this in the cot as the cot is a lot bigger and it's harder to tuck the blankets in. anyway tonight I had no other choice than to use a blanket since he has no sleep suit, so I put a cellular blanket over him (the blanket with the holes) incase it did go over his face he could breathe, I tucked it in the best I could but shortly after he fell asleep he kept kicking everywhere and kept throwing the blanket everywhere. Because he keeps doing this I'm scared to go to sleep even tho it's a cellular blanket just incase he gets trapped or idk 😫 because it's a light blanket, I've put him in a long sleeve vest, socks & a velvet babygrow. The room feels okay to me but if I remove the blanket he'll probably be freezing. What should i do? He'll be sleeping now till 9am.. I'm not used to this. If he was in a sleeping bag id feel better. I won't sleep whilst the blankets over him because he's kicking and throwing it away but also hate that if I remove it he could be cold.. what do i do? I'm probably being ridiculous but I'm a first time mum and nervous 😬

Bless you OP
Hopefully this from the Lullaby Trust is helpful:
Firmly tuck in sheets and blankets (not above shoulder height). Sleep your baby in the feet-to-foot position (feet at the bottom of the cot so they can’t wriggle down under the blankets). If your baby needs an extra blanket make sure it is lightweight.

Thank you so much. Baby's feet is at the bottom of the cot. I've tucked the blankets in but he keeps kicking and untucking them! Ahh

If baby is happily sleeping in what you've put him in, he isn't cold and will sleep as normal without sleeping bag. He'll soon wake you if he's cold! Maybe pop the heating on for a bit to warm the room up for the night x
