10 Month Old Hates Cot

I've had DS in our room since he was newborn in his beside me cot. I tried transitioning him the beginning of January to his own room/big cot but he hates it...

He's become very used to the soft mesh sides on his beside me cot and likes to sleep right up next to it on his side so when he's in his big cot he hits against the wooden side and gets really upset and is waking up a lot because of this.

Has anyone got any tips or other cots/beds/cot accessories we could try? He's back in the beside me for now as it got too much for me and him but he's getting bigger by the week and I know we're close to him not being able to sleep in the beside me... I'm at a bit of a loss!

Get a travel cot with mesh sides?

@Batbatbatty I've considered it but have read it can be unsafe as a permanent sleeping solution...

Does the cot element of the beside me come off the stand? If so could you put that into the bigger cot and see if he'd get used to sleeping in the big cot inside the smaller one?

Honestly, perseverance - our little one slept pressed into the mesh in her next to me (still does in a travel cot!). Took 4 nights for her to stop doing this in her cot and get comfy.
