Black streaks in babies pop

Hi all,
just wonder if you can help out.
Today I’ve noticed black streaks in my babies nappy twice. He’s formula fed so I can’t put it down to the breast. Also he was having issues with popping (normally 26 odd hours between a movement) now he’s pooing normally but the streaks are there.
im going to ask the health visitor when she’s here tomorrow but Google’s scared me lol.

I do have a picture but obviously it’s not pretty.

Has he started solids?
Banana can cause black strands in poo

Are you feeding any solids? best to get him checked just in case.
but if you are doing solids have a think what he’s eaten because it can come straight out. Blueberries were a culprit for us 😅😅

I’ve been told to just monitor it as it could be due to iron?
however, he’s gone from slightly constipated (24 hours plus before a movement) to passing 4 stools in one day? Idk i think I should ring again

Can sometimes be microscopic amounts of blood- sounds alarming but very common in intolerances or after a virus- does baby have any symptoms of milk intolerance? Rashes? Reflux?

If you think you should ring again, then do. Trust your instincts, they'll usually be right. The worst that can happen is you waste a bit of time on the phone. Good luck.

Pooing less than 4 times a week or more than 3 times a day are signs of constipation. Streaks on his nappy sounds like leakage from overflow which is another sign of constipation. I would get him checked by GP as he is very little. Also maybe call HV to find out what you can give him for constipation as he is too little for juices etc. ERIC website have wealth of information about constipation in kids.

Hi all, health visitor came today and all good. She said to keep and eye on it but it is probably his poo starting to develop as it’s starts around this age. He’s very happy in himself so no concerns from her as of yet :)
