Rash - chicken pox or something else?

My eldest has woken this morning with some spots on her arm and face. We took her to the doctors this morning for an unrelated reason as she has had an eczema flare up which has become infected and asked at the time if they were connected. Doctor said they could be but couldn't say for certain. Just bathed her at the end of the day and noticed she has more. They look to me like chicken pox spots but she had quite a severe case of chicken pox 13 months ago. These also don't seem to be appearing randomly, they're all on her arm , hands, one side of her face and upper thigh of one leg. Any ideas? Will take her to the docs again in the morning but want to be a bit more clued up if I can be

All on the same side of her body?

SundanceLeopard · 31/01/2024 20:31

@Tulipvase No the side varies. Right side of her face and left side with her thigh. Both hands but one worse than the other

Ah I was wondering about shingles but wasn’t sure if it too wide spread any way.

I had a Google of shingles and apparently it's more blotchy than spotty. Pretty stumped by this

My daughter has also had chickenpox before and is now 4 years old. She gets these types of spots a lot, especially recently. Her eczema has also flared up a lot. We find she gets these spots when we give her too much milk on the milk ladder which she’s working on. It seems to be a response to all the foods she has a problem with sadly! No doctor has ever given these spots a diagnosis but we’ve been dealing with them for about 3 years on and off. My daughter is very itchy with them at the moment. Sorry I don’t have any answers but you’re probably the first person who has shown the same spots as my daughter’s!

Hand, foot and mouth? Looks similar to chickenpox and the spots are not always on hand, foot and mouth!

SundanceLeopard · 31/01/2024 21:35

@texasem isn't it frustrating when you don't know 🫣 I've been tralling the internet trying to find a similar rash to no result!

@handmademitlove I thought HFM spots were usually lighter in the middle but I suppose it could be a possibility!

I was going to suggest this. DD once for hand, foot, and mouth basically everywhere other than her hands, feet or mouth. It should have been called arms, ankles, and cheeks.

When had pityriasis rosea it looked/felt like chicken pox, but i'd already had it. It started on my arms/legs and then my torso.
