My baby STINKS!!

My 3 month old baby absolutely stinks... her wind and poops smell like rotten eggs!

Its so noticeable people have made comments when we are outdoors...

It makes me gag!

She's my 2nd child, and I've been a nanny for many years, many nappy changes, so I like to think I have a strong stomach but MY GOODNESS this girl is stinky!

She's EBF and I thought that was just like a sweet bread sort of smell.

What's going on?

Lol I remember some very stinky farts from our EBF baby at a similar age. I wouldn’t worry about it. They’re (a bit!) less noxious now

My oldest one stank as a baby. I used to hear about mums saying they missed the new baby smell, and i'd chuckle/think they were insane. Little baby stomachs can take a while to adjust to our diets via breast milk, so it could be something that you are eating. My doctor told me to cut out broccoli, bread, dairy etc. In the end she stank badly for 3 months until I supplemented her breast milk bottles with a tiny bit of formula and it immediately stopped the smell. Probiotic drops could also help. Once she was on solids it was fine tbh.

My wee one was very very windy but never stinky like that, also ebf.

What are her nappies like? Has she any other signs of cmpa for example? I'd mention to your health visitor, it might be completely normal and nothing to worry about but it would be worth ruling out any wee food intolerances she might have.

I would wonder about some kind of intolerance she is getting through your milk. Whether it's bad enough to try doing an elimination diet, I don't know.

There is no point cutting out things like brocolli as the way these make you fart wouldn't go through to milk, but you can try cutting out common allergens - dairy, eggs, soy, gluten (not all at once but one at a time).
