11 month old... is this a sleep regression?

As we speak DS (11.5 months) has been up since 8:30pm , after going to bed at 7:45pm. He woke up crying and has settled now, but he wont go to sleep, he is being playful.

If i leave the room he screams, iv tried leaving him for a short period to see if he settles down, he wont for several hours! Iv read him several books, tried all the obvious methods. He is fully alert.

He has been doing this for 3 weeks, i just don't know what is going on, prior to this recent situation, he would wake during the night after midnight for milk and go back to sleep.

This time round, there seems no explanation, he is just awake 🤷🏼‍♀️

Is he down to one nap in the day?

Gigi89x · 30/01/2024 22:49

He is down to one nap, id like it he had 2 as its a struggle for him to be up for long periods, but we cant fit two in before bedtime at 7:30pm

I’d keep with the one nap, but being bedtime forward tbh. Sounds like he’s overtired and winding himself up.

When Dd was that age she’d go down for a nap around 11:30/12, sleep until 2:30ish and I’d get her into bed for 6:30pm. She’s 7 now and still has a 7:30 bedtime or she’s a tired horror in the morning!

Last night was absolute hell, the worst to date. He seems to have developed a cough and cold, he was up at 8:30pm-11pm and the. 2-5am screaming on and off. Especially if i tried to lay him down again!! He had no fever i checked, we went downstairs and he was happy to play, but not to go to sleep. He eventually fell asleep in my arms.

He has been fine one the one nap for a few months prior to this, as he sleeps in

Typical day

Wakeup around 8-9am

Nap around 1/1:30pm (nap can vary from 30 mins to 2.5 hours, recently its been 2 hours long) cut off is 3:15pm for nap ending*

Bedtime 7:30pm

@Queijo what do you think about the timings
