DD is 4 days old, and is BF

today she seems to have been feeding like every hour and sometimes bigger sometimes literally 5 mins max she hasn’t napped too much if at all really, she had an hour or so on my chest but she seems to be feeding a lot

this is obviously. Better than if it was the other way around! Just wondered if this is classed as ‘cluster feeding’ my milk seems to be in and it’s not painful to feed , her latch is good and hospital checked her said tongue tie is very minimal , near non existent

my son I just bottle fed instantly so I don’t know what feeding goes like with BF

so any tips on what to expect etc please let me know please :)

Yup sounds totally normal. She's busy getting your supply established. Provided you're getting plenty if wet nappies I wouldn't worry.

For now just expect her to feed all the time and if she doesn’t it’s a bonus.

Make sure you drink loads.

Yep totally normal. Make sure that you have a lot of water to drink, snacks and people waiting on you hand and foot

Totally normal. Our record feeding session was 4 hours solid. It was 30 min each side, without breaks, from 8-midnight. I've read stories about much MUCH longer sessions!

Set yourself up a station loaded with drinks and flapjacks.

Adding to the chorus of normal. Fruit cake/ crumble and custard is a semi healthy treat which you completely deserve. And find a good series to watch, and/ or a good audiobook. Louis Theroux reads his own book, Gotta Get Theroux this, it's pleasant

TheShellBeach · 23/01/2024 18:34

That sounds completely normal, OP.
Congratulations on your new baby.

The favourite thing I read at this stage is that she's putting her order in for the next week!

In a supply and demand system, babies need to up the ante to encourage your supply so look on it as an investment in your milk supply of the future Smile

A breastfeeding cushion which ties round the waist is helpful to give you one or two free hands. I had the deluxe Thrupenny Bit one and it was ace. I could sit down to feed whilst scrolling on my phone and drinking a cup of tea.

Totally normal ☺️ xx
