Which bottles are better Tommee Tippee vs MAM?

Hi everyone so I’m due my first baby in a couple of months and I’m thinking about which bottles to get (I’ll probably end up with both brands let’s be real lol). Have any of you tried either Tommee Tippee or MAM bottles with your babies? What was your experiences? How easy are they to use and clean etc? Did your babies like them? Did they cause any issues like colic? I know both brands have anti colic options. I plan to combo feed from birth and I’ve heard that those brands are better for combo feeding as they’re breast like. I know some people have used either brands and liked them so that makes me want to get both but want to hear a wide range of opinions before buying them lol. My in laws gifted me and my hubby the perfect prep machine to make up the formula feeds and I know the perfect prep works with lots if not all bottles but it’ll be nice to be matching with the Tommee Tippee bottles or am I just weird lol. Also like that MAM bottles are self sterilising

Hey OP, congratulations on your pregnancy, I bet you're so excited!

We had both Tommee Tippee and Mam bottles and ultimately went with what baby preferred which was the Mam bottles. We had got more TT bottles but she refused to latch onto them, tried the Mam bottle and never looked back. Hope it goes well for you ❤️

We only used MAM bottles (they are so frigging cute!) but baby loved them so we didn't have any need to try anything else.

Both of mine have preferred the TT advanced anti colic bottles.

I am forever against mam bottles after making one up in the middle of the night, and accidentally unscrewing the bottom bit instead of screwing on the top. It was everywhere!

MAM much better here too 😊

Exclusively TT with my first - no probs but the anti colic ones a pain in the arse and more prone to leaking if assembled incorrectly plus more fiddly to clean.

This time round using mam - I personally find much easier to clean / sterilise, baby likes them the same and I also find them more visually appealing, easy to carry in a a nappy bag (slimmer) and more ergonomic to hold while feeding!

Either are fine though!

So we are a mam household. Dd loved them
We had Dr brown and TT too

I love that I can sterilise anywhere (all I need is a microwave) as bottle stacks to self sterilise...that you can really get in and clean them easily

BUT
@AllBlackEverything screw fail happened to us more than once in our sleep deprived state. Most memorable was a 4am er ....

I was KNACKERED.... took it up, remembered thinking DD drank the bottle "so quickly" and was really "growing up" 🥺
As I looked at her little face I felt a warm feeling across my body like a cosy euphoric love bath ... then suddenly things grew colder ... and I realised it wasn't a wave of love... I had drenched both of us with 6oz of warm, now rapidly cooling, milk 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
It was all over both of us, the bed and on the mattress...DD was still hungry and also now freezing and slightly sticky.... so started roaring her head off
Proper FML moment

I still love mam though 😅😅😅

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with both bottles. I’ll get both and thanks for sharing about being mindful not to accidentally unscrew the bottom lid of the mam bottles

I've had both and prefer TT as always forgot to screw the bottom bit of the mam bottle together and spilt the milk every time 😂 however being able to steralise in the microwave was good. Maybe get 1/2 of each and see which your baby prefers? Mine never could latch on to the mam ones that well.

Interestingly enough he also couldn't get on with the mam dummies but preferred the TT dummies.

InTheRainOnATrain · 23/01/2024 21:19

We used Mam because of the self sterilising thing. If you can keep it easy then do, I’d personally only try others if baby didn’t get on with them but thankfully mine were fine. Also had a prep machine - it’s the best!

Denimdenimdenim · 23/01/2024 21:21

We tried MAM. DS hated them. Took to TT bottles and dummy no problem at all.

IBE45 · 23/01/2024 21:31

TT bottles definitely. They also do self sterilising ones now too. They're easy to clean, my baby likes them and they're very reasonably priced.

I really do not understand the hype with the MAM bottles and find them to be overpriced and overrated. You have to take them apart in to lots of different pieces to wash them. You can't put boiling hot water in them and if you put them in a jug of cold water to cool a bottle, it sucks in cold water through the anti colic mechanism leading to diluted formula which is dangerous! They really are dreadful imo.

BotherThat · 23/01/2024 21:37

We got a few different brands and waited to see which the baby preferred and took to most easily, then we stocked up. I really wanted DD2 to get on with the mam bottles because of the easy sterilising, but no - Dr Brown’s anti-colic bottles won out in the end and they are a pain in the bum to clean.
