My 18 month old DD has had a persistent fever for 6 days. She’s very exhausted and I’m pretty sure it’s a horrible cold she’s caught from me (it knocked me for six as well). Rang 111 and was referred to GP who has prescribed antibiotics because inside her ear was a bit red, but I’m pretty sure it’s not an ear infection causing this temp. She’s had them before and we’ve got none of the usual symptoms. If it is viral, antibiotics won’t touch it anyway.
Not sure what else to do, or whether I should be concerned now. I’m just worried about this neverending fever. She also generally off her food and drinking but a bit dehydrated; she’s also got loose stools but not diarrhoea. She had a sore throat that seems to have calmed down but her breath is quite smelly! She’s definitely not herself at all. The lethargy and sleeping is beginning to frighten me a little. I feel she should’ve turned a corner by now but aside from a few bright spots when the Calpol/baby nurofen kicks in, she doesn’t seem to be turning a corner.
Does anyone have any tips?
