Playing with/twiddling my hair for comfort

My 18mo DS won’t leave my hair alone when he’s tired, upset or needs a bit of regulation. I love the fact he wants cuddles but sometimes i feel really tapped out, so I tell him not too and remove his hand but he is insistent on putting his hand back in my hair to sort of massage.
I was wondering if firstly this is normal at this age (he’s been doing it since he used to feed at a young age and still does it a year after stopping BF) and secondly - if there’s a soft doll/teddy anyone knows of that has like realistic hair that he could sleep with?
We are weaning off his dummy soon and I think it would help him to have something soothing he already likes in his cot with him…

One of mine would still do this at reception age but if I wasn't easily available he twiddled his own hair.

My little ponies, there are larger stuffies with synthetic hair. We went through about 10... My ds ripped out my hair to twiddle it until about 3, while awake or asleep, the ponies helped a bit. Definitely get on it ASAP before the pulling out starts!
