Advice with fussy baby

My 5 month old is starting to become increasingly fussy. She is fussy when we change nappies, when I dress her after bath, when she stays for too long in the same place etc. Is this normal? What is your advice?

I am currently finding ways to distract her so that we get through a nappy change without fussiness (e.g. singing songs to her).

First time mum - no clue if this is normal or if I should be doing something differently 😅

Thank you!

My money is that she is frustrated/bored lying still on her back. That's totally normal at that age - they are motivated to try and move.

Make sure she gets plenty of other opportunities to use her muscles e.g. propped to sit (but not with a bumbo, that's too much support to let her practise), tummy time, bouncing in your lap. Then when you need her to lie still she may be more cooperative. If not, just keep distracting! Just wait till you got the stage where they instantly roll and crawl as soon as you lie them down.....

I think this is very normal with babies around her age. My theory is that they get frustrated easily because they have become aware of all the things they can't quite do yet. Nappy changes can definitely be a challenge!

Thank you both! She is indeed now starting to figure out she can roll and do more things so I think you are spot on about being bored and wanting to do the next step!

thanks for your advice!
