1yr old not eating enough to wean formula

I know my recently turned 1yr old isn’t eating enough to wean from formula completely yet. My question is do I move on to stage 3 or stay on stage 2?
if your littles didn’t eat enough yet what did you do with your formula babies?
TIA

You never need to use follow on formula, it's advised to only ever use the from birth stuff I think.

Start in cows milk at 1, instead of any formula. We found that the formula was filling DS up too much which reduced his appetite for food. Once he switched to cows milk he started eating a lot more.

NHS guidance is to stay on stage 1 formula throughout - stages 2 and 3 are apparently completely unnecessary - they were developed by formula manufacturers because they are not allowed to advertise stage 1 formula (breast is best and all that)…however they are allowed to advertise “follow on” milks so can rake in some cash that way.

Stage 1 is absolutely fine nutritionally for babies at any stage. I don’t think my DS1 weaned completely from stage 1 formula until a couple of months after turning 1…at which point he was having cows milk in a cup instead. I now have DS2 and will be doing the same with him if that’s what suits him.

Honestly don’t stress. Baby will begin eating more solids and drinking less formula as time goes on. If you’re worried, speak to your health visitor.

They need to be hungry to eat and they won’t be hungry if they are filling up on formula. One year olds really need very small amounts of food. Who has told you that they aren’t eating enough?

I guess I’m just worrying too much/over thinking it. I give her her food first then will give her a bottle IF it looks like she hasn’t eaten much and she drinks most of it, so I assumed she wasn’t eating enough to be full if she’s still having the majority of a bottle. I’ll switch to cows milk I was just worried she wouldn’t get all the nutrients and other stuff she needs. Thanks for the advice

How much formula is she actually having? If she’s now 1, it’s probably time to stop ‘filling her up’ with milk and give more solids instead if you think she’s hungry. If she refuses, that might mean her eating very little at one meal and then increasing her intake at the next. Babies are fickle, but they are good at judging intake over the course of a day/week.

I’d stay on stage 2 or switch to cows milk.

You need to cut the milk, then baby will be properly hungry.
