Hi guys
I’m a first time mum so everything is really new… so basically the last 2 days it feels like sometimes my baby feeds abit to quick he will take his bottle first and he sounds like a horse like he hasn’t had it quick enough, sometimes he is gulping which results in him having hiccups he’s pretty good at winding but then he’s started to throw some of his bottles back up sometimes only small amounts sometimes what looks like too much… he’s not unsettled he’s perfectly happy in himself he’s quite alert to be honest but I’m just worried he’s not getting enough he’s a month old and when he was last weighed he was 8 pound 2oz he was quite poorly in the new year so I’m unsure it’s not all the time he is sick it’s just some bottles he takes he has about 3/4 ounces 3/4 hours wet and dirty nappies he settles back off after feeds as I’m writing this he’s just had a feed 4 ounces and probably thrown up a ounce but I’m not too sure if I feel he’s not had enough I’ll do him a ounce a hour after he’s had a feed to replace what maybe he’s lost I’m just so worried and obviously what to get this right. I won’t put him straight down after a feed and I always feed him upright

thannks for helping a momma out♥️

He might have a bit of reflux. I wouldn't top him up to be honest but maybe try and do a pause after 3oz give it a few minutes and see if he still wants the last Oz. If it is reflux the extra Oz could be comfort feeding and giving him that milk again will drive a cycle of feed reflux more feed more reflux.

My daughter was sick 5-8 times a feed but still have beautiful weight gain. She breastfed little and often and was kept quite upright and not moved for 20-30 minutes after a feed. She then went on to a thickener and then further treatment as she has particularly stubborn reflux

Have you tried paced feeding?

It's better to give amounts that stay down. If you are worried about total volumes over the course of the day and how the feeds are spaced
So rather than 3 x 4oz bottles over 12h - one every 4h you could give 4 x 3oz bottles over 12h one every 3h. The same volume over the same amount of time but it might be easier on his tummy. - values picked purely for the ease of the maths/comparison and not a recommendation
