Baby 5 months watching tv when it’s on?

Just wondering what thoughts are on this..
For context.. baby is 5 months and whenever telly Is on - he glares at it.
i do stuff with him daily, walks, groups, go to see family, cafes.. sing to him and put him on his playmat. But whenever I’m watching tv he stares at it and sometimes giggles and gurgles as if he’s responding to the faces! I try to give him a toy and talk to him .. but I’m a bit concerned he’s getting stimuli from it. Mum said not to worry too much as it seems he thinks faces are talking to him similar to in reality? But I’m conscious of the recommendations for screen time.. thanks

He's going to like all the lights and noise so pretty inevitable that he's looking at it I think. I don't have the TV on when DS2 is awake as I do think it counts as screen time, but I know others think that as long as you're also interacting it's fine. Think it's your own judgement call to be honest!

Mine does. She ‘watches’ CBeebies and Peppa and Gecko’s Garage with her three year old brother. I think the important thing about TV is that it doesn’t replace other activities - reading and fresh air and so on.
