My partner and I have been using the the Tommie Tippee Perfect Prep machine since our little girl was born. She’s now 12 weeks.
I was changing the filter today and have realised that I hadn’t been pushed the filter down hard enough and it hadn’t clicked into place. This means the water going into the machine has been unfiltered all this time!
Needless to say, I’m freaking out a little.
Our daughter’s absolutely fine. Healthy weight. Never had a tummy bug. Never had a fever. Nothing.
But have I done anything to harm her long-term? Are there any other potential effects from this? She’s been drinking unfiltered water, and while the machine dispenses a ‘hot shot’ to sterilize the formula, I’m worried this isn’t enough to ensure the whole feed is sterile.
I just feel sick tbh. Can’t believe I made such a stupid mistake.
