Paced Feeding - Formula Amounts

My baby is 7 weeks old and formula fed due to issues with breast feeding that arose when he was a few days old.

I use paced feeding as recommended by the NHS but I have a question about the amounts he takes. I see people saying their baby has 120-150ml at every feed but the amount my baby takes can be as little as 30ml or as much as 150...it really depends on him!

As far as I can tell he is putting on weight but he hasn't been weighed by the HV since the 4 week check, will be seeing them next week. He also does plenty of wet and dirty nappies!

Is the amount my baby drinks normal and okay or should I be concerned that he isn't eating the full amounts?

Both my babies did exactly this. As long as you’re feeding on demand, and using paced feeding, they’ll be fine!

Thank you! I'm glad that other babies are the same

Mine was the same and had quite a long snacking phase where she fed little and often. As long as he is having wet nappies and seems alert when awake it’s likely to be fine. The recommended amounts and number of feeds on the formula packet can be way off for some babies, especially at the start when they need to feed frequently.
