My 4yr old daughter has an invisible friend named Tina...yes she watched the Invisible friend Tina Bluey episode!
She has had this friend for a long time, a number of months. It started with Tina being blamed for anything thing my daughter had done that was cheeky or naughty etc or just talking and 'playing' with Tina. However, there are occasions when my daughter might randomly burst into tears and it transpires that Tina has hit her or said something mean. Today at ballet Tina 'told' her she couldn't do ballet as she wasn't any good, cue tears etc.
It's at the point we have to open the front door to let Tina out and make her go home, or tell her to go away etc.
We've played along, we've ignored it, we've said Tina isn't real and that she's just pretend but daughter is adamant she's real but invisible. On the other hand the story around Tom's changes regularly, her age, how many sisters Tina has blah blah.
I don't know, is this a normal level of imaginary friendship?! How best should we deal with this?! Any advice welcomed at this point or experience shared is most helpful!
