5 months baby hungry but rejecting bottle

Help pls! Our five month old baby is bottle fed expressed breast milk and Aptamil formula from birth. Haven't had too many issues with feeding until now. Literally today. His mouth moves a lot, and he fusses and cries in a manner that usually indicates that he's hungry. But he's repeatedly rejecting the bottle when offered. I tried switching between slow flow teat and medium flow, no luck. Tried different feedings positions. Now my partner has come back from work he's also trying with no luck either so far. Baby usually feeds 800ml-1000ml every day but today he's done only 500ml so far.

Baby is drooling a lot today, and his left cheek is visibly redder than the other. Could it be teething? If so how do you get a teething baby to feed? Thanks!

Definitely sounds like it could be teething! I had a similar situation with my DD and had a few days where she was only taking half of her usual feeds. Have you got any teething gels or Calpol you can try? The health visitor suggested giving these before feeds to try and ease the pain before feeding. Hope it passes soon x

@Swintail Thanks! He's finally drunk 180ml after playing on the playmat for a bit (distracted?) We do have a teething ring though I'm still trying to figure out how to use it... he doesn't seem keen to chew on it yet. Will see if we can take him to the GP tmr to get some advice too. Our health visitor is a bit useless only seen her once...
