Newborn full of cold, help!

I've got an 8 week old who is FULL of cold and has a cough too. It sounds like she's struggling to breathe. I was unable to breastfeed so not able to get antibodies from that. I took her to the doctors yesterday as was concerned she couldn't breathe or was working too hard but they said there's no signs of a wheeze or respiratory distress and that it was just a virus. To make it worse, my son came home from childcare with a sickness bug which I have no caught! Luckily my husband can work from home and he's on baby duties and I'm on toddler duties as we are both throwing up 🥴

Is there anything we can do to help her? My son was born during covid so didn't catch anything like this until he was much older. I just want to hold her and look after her but really don't want pass this awful sickness bug onto her too! Feeling anxious and rather sorry for myself so would love any advice or tips for anything we can do for her/how to get through it!!

Cuddles from DH to avoid passing on sickness bug. Also saline solution and snot sucker to help breathe?

My ds caught a bad cold at 2 days old in the hospital (and he was 5 weeks early). It took him three weeks to get over it. We didn’t do anything extra, other than on a few occasions he had calpol and a saline drops for his nose. Shortly after the saline it would make him be sick so saline before a bottle didn’t go well.

Good luck, just keep an eye on him and if you are worried call your gp or 111.

Ds is 9 months old and he has had three colds in that time and he’s just getting over a viral infection where we spent 7hrs overnight in a&e due to his breathing.

Oh poor thing. The calpol plug in helped us at night times a bit?

My DS has just shaken off a 4 week cold he's had since he was 5 weeks and similarly the doctors just told us it would take time to shift and nothing we could really do. We did use saline drops and the snot sucker to try to make breathing a bit easier especially around feeds but other than that it did just take time to shift.
