6 month old poorly

First time Mum here with a 6 month old baby who has his first cough and cold. It started Saturday and hasn’t got any worse, but it hasn’t got any better.

I’m doing my best to keep him comfortable but boy is he miserable!! I’m talking whining 80% of the day. We are all absolutely exhausted as his night sleep has been massively effected. His cough seems to be making him very upset.

Any tips on keeping him more comfortable?! He seems happiest sat on my knee but I obviously don’t want him watching TV all day. We’ve been on a walk to Morrisons today (wrapped up cosy in his push chair) and a few family have made me feel guilty for taking him out.

I’m going insane inside the house and just want my happy boy back!

I wouldn't be worried about taking him out on a walk, fresh air is always good (within reason!). For nighttime sleep, calpol plug ins were helpful. Also GP recommended us to give calpol/nurofen even if no temperature, as it could help relieve general cold symptoms.

My 6 month old has just had the same post Christmas.

Another vote for the Calpol plug ins. He definitely slept better with them.

i used snufflebabe bubble bath and the rub slathered on his chest and between shoulder blades after a bath.

Saline nose spray was great to shift blocked nose and as PP mentioned I also gave calpol frequently. My DS had a temperature on and off but I would have given is regardless.

Hope he gets better soon, it’s awful isn’t it. My really happy boy had a personality transplant the week he had it. So grumpy love him.
