Baby enthusiastic with dog

Any advice on how to react and deal with this would be really helpful please...

Baby is almost a year old and dog nearly 8 years old.

Baby has recently started becoming interested in our lovely family dog and giggles at him as he runs around the house. He is so friendly and likes to be sat near her however recently, as she got older, she wants to stroke him but it comes out as a bit of a smack - I never leave them alone together and keep telling her 'kind hands' and show how to stroke gently but of course that isn't happening yet. Dog just gets up and moves but I don't want this to happen - it's his house too and it's not fair on him. Any advice please?

Hi, would really recommend this Instagram page ☺️
Dog meets baby

The main thing is to just stay consistent with baby, modelling nice stroking behaviours etc
I would recommend a safe space for the dog where baby is not allowed to interact with them at all. The dog will soon catch on that if they want peace that's the place to go. Without telling you how to suck eggs obviously keep baby away from dog while eating, drinking and playing with toys. I know some people might preach a dog shouldn't be reactive (my dogs aren't at all) however I don't want to test there tolerance and especially not with my baby! I wouldn't take kingly to someone yanking food out my mouth either 😂

Eventually I'm sure they'll be great buddies ☺️
