How to stop breastfeeding 18 month old?

I just absolutely hate breastfeeding now, I hate the feeling of it and desperately want to stop but she cries and cries and I have to give in, she wakes several times a night and I’m exhausted, I am a single parent so don’t have a partner to help, any advice please would be very helpful! I love her but cannot stand her breastfeeding any longer.

Hi

I stopped at 18 months with my first. It took 3 nights for him to stop crying out for it which seems to be the norm. My husband slept with him those 3 nights and I didn't cave in as I was reassured by comments on this very website that he would sleep better once breastfeeding had stopped. It was true and true again with my 2nd. It went from maybe 8 wakeups in the night to more or less sleeping through or just one wakeup. I know you said you are single, is your mum around to stay over for 3 nights and go in when waking up or to sleep with her. That's a big ask I know. If not ,if you can just do it yourself and not give in to the screaming and wear something she cant get into.Just keep telling yourself it ls being cruel to be kind as they dont need to be doing it at that age and she ll start to sleep so much better after it. You won't regret it.
