Baby boy is 11 months

about 2 months ago was babbling mamama or dadada but never actually said the words. Now he doesn’t say them at all.. a lot of squealing shouting or screaming but not loads. It’s like he is trying to communicate without speaking

he is crawling well eatting well etc. my partner thinks it’s a concern but I wasn’t worried til he said it.

when did your little ones start babbling? do I need to speak to HV?

It wouldn't hurt to mention it as there are waiting lists for everything if he does need a bit of help but i honestly wouldn't worry. I remember I read that when babies are working on new skills like walking etc they can stop doing old skills. If he's focusing on a physical skill he wouldn't be working on his verbal skills

It's so hard to say. All I can say from my experience of special needs child of my own and friends with special needs kids is the HV will tell you not to worry and fob you off regardless of wether there is an issue or not. My kid is 18 months non verbal and apparently that's nothing to worry about. I got fobbed of over and again with my 7 year old when I was raising concerns with his development as a baby- made to feel I was being ridiculous for wondering if there was something else. He's autistic and has such significant needs he can't attend school because they can't keep him safe. But the HV said he was fine and would catch up don't worry. Now my baby not babbling and again it's nothing to worry about. The system is a joke. Get it noted and keep an eye on it yourself don't trust the professionals with tell you it's a concern if it's a concern you will have to fight the system for a basic access to education

My second child never really babbled, so was technically late, but then started saying things like helicopter. Watch, wait, don’t waste time worrying.
