Naps 8 month old

If your 8 month old woke at 3pm instead of 3.30pm would you try to fit another nap in?

In the 3-2 nap transition period at the moment and feeling a bit clueless about what time the 2nd and last nap of the day should ideally finish. DH think we should try do a 15 min cat nap later. Baby normally goes to bed at 730 and sleeps until 630/7am which we realise is great and don’t want to mess up.

I'd bring bedtime forwards 30 mins

No. I also aim for the last nap to finish at 330 ish, but she’s fine with it finishing any time after about 245 (just cranky in the bath).

A later catnap means a much later bedtime.

Thanks, he’s been fine for the rest of the day, a bit shouty after his bath. Hopefully the slightly earlier bedtime doesn’t make any difference to night time sleep.

How did you get on with this? I’m in the same situation and normally give my 7.5 month old an extra cat nap; if I put him to bed too early he wakes early the following morning, but I’ve only tested this a few times!

If mine woke 3pm, that would mean she'd want bed 6.20/30, which is too early. So I'd aim for a 30 min nap at 5-5.30. Bedtime 9pm.

In fact now she's been on 2 naps the last couple weeks, first nap is often later than ideal 11.30-1/1.30 (due to being out with toddler), pushing second nap to 4-5.30.

Other days it's more 10.30-11.30 & 2.15-4.15, Bedtime 7.45

Basically regardless of other naps, Bedtime is 3.5hr after last nap.

When she was on 3 naps, she'd be sleeping between 7-8 (usually by 7.30). I'm fine with the fact Bedtime is going to be more like 8/9 until she's down to 1 nap. Toddler doesn't go upstairs til at least 8 anyway, so makes no real difference!

My ideal ending of last nap is 4/4.15pm
