What did you do for second birthday?

We have one son who’s almost two. Struggling to decide which what to do for his second birthday. Last year we crammed in our friends, our family and some new friends, which was hectic but fine as it felt appropriate for the first birthday.

i’d like something smaller but neither side of our family are nearby, so even having a few of them over is actually an overnight visit. Or they all come (x4 grandparents, x3 aunts: uncles and 2 cousins) for a big day trip but nobody gets to spend deep, quality time together.

My other thought is just one set of grandparents or one auntie comes for a full weekend visit and we take him on an afternoon out he’d like. But how not to peeve off the other family members?

how did you celebrate 2?

We just had a nice day out with a friend who had a child of a similar age. It was very relaxing.

Just a birthday tea at home at that age.

Mine were both summer babies - I think both times we had family round for a garden party; I'm not sure we invited nursery friends until third birthday.

DC1 - day out to a wildlife park, just us. DC2 - day out at a NT place that had a Tiger Who Came to Tea trail on with wider family too

Never did any kind of party of gathering at home till 4.
