We had a home visit from a health visitor (probably depends on location) but they went through a questionnaire about dd's development with speech, motor skills etc, and asked if we had any concerns. For us we talked about whether she was eating enough food.

I went to the HV centre.

They plonked DS down on a large mat with lots of toys etc. He got up and was walking around the room just playing with their washing machines and exploring. They watched him for a while to see how he was interacting with the room/strangers/toys.

Whilst that happened they ran through the questionnaire, asked how much he was eating, drinking. Asked about what water cup he was using.

Advised on local baby groups and ways for him to socialise. Measured him and weighed him. Checked his soft spot development.
Made sure I already had him registered with a dentist (I did) Advised I get him booked for a checkup with the dentist. (I did this after the appointment and the dentist said there was no need until 18 months, it was a waste of time because DS was having none of it).

Asked if I had any questions and then we were off. It was about 45 mins and I had a new HV who was lovely.

I’ve come across your (now oldish) thread via a search. I hope your visit went well. We haven’t seen a health visitor since our baby was less than a month old in June 22. The doctor saw him at 8 weeks in August 22. In June 22 the health visitor came to the house then. At one year they did a phone appointment. We have now been asked for his two year check up to go to the doctors surgery on Monday. I don’t want to go. I feel it is ridiculously intrusive that they can demand this after not having seen a child for two years. We don’t have a rapport with them at all. They don’t know my child. Of course I will do these things and go. I will fill in the form and obviously comply with this demand but I just feel rage. They’ve never once done or said anything helpful. I don’t think I would feel so cross if it hadn’t been so long since anybody had seen him (he has had his routine vaccines etc and has been to childrens ward with severe chest infections twice. So I don’t mean no medical professionals). I guess I’m just questioning the purpose of the whole tick box big brother exercise. Sorry this is a rant.
