Question about claiming for childcare costs / UC

Our daughter started nursery last March, and we're just now reading in to claiming for childcare costs. Her nursery bill is on average £1300 - £1400 per month, and we've been paying every month since March, using tax free childcare.

We've just submitted our claim for UC, we both work full time but (ridiculously) our combined salaries only just cover everything and we're really starting to struggle.

Anyway, if our claim is accepted, does anyone know if the childcare costs are backdated? When we did the form it asked for each payment we've made to the nursery, these will date back to March 2023, so if the claim is accepted can we expect a backdated payment?

This probably sounds a bit greedy of me, if so I'm sorry! I'm very worried about money right now, we can't afford for one of us to be a stay at home parent but nursery is emptying my bank account every month. We knew it'd be expensive but we are really starting to struggle.

No it's only backdated to any payment made in and that covers dates in your first assessment period. So for a month.

You also can't use tax free childcare and UC at the same time.
