My son starts nursery tomorrow he is 2 and 3 months he is quite a big boy and quite good with other kids. I am just so worried about him going and feel bad but I got a new job and need to earn money. I just feel awful.

Lots of children go way younger, he will be fine and enjoy playing with other children. It may take a few days to settle in but after that it will be ok.

They do so many activities in nursery that unless you are a supermum with 6 arms and the patience of a saint you'd never be able to do them consistenly at home.

They love being around other kids and eating together and getting to play and explore all day. It's so good for them.

Thanks for your help
He went today apparently he was fine in the morning but the woman said he had meltdown in afternoon and fell a sleep and she seemed shocked by this, I mena he is only two.. Maybe I've put him in the wrong nursery he is in a pre school nursery (2 and onwards) maybe I should have put him in more of a baby nursery that are more equipt
Just feel so down about all if this i am suppose to start work. Monday and now all of this is going on in my brain. The manager if the nursery if not very nice either which doesn't help.

Hi,

So don't they put any of them down for naps?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 04/01/2024 21:29

My 2 year old has a 2 hour nap every day at nursery, I would have thought that is normal.

Morechocmorechoc · 04/01/2024 21:31

I'd say if they don't nap you shoukd move him ASAP.

I'd check thoroughly with nursery their schedules and make sure you know his key worker and like them.

Kettlebellend · 04/01/2024 21:33

He will adapt and settle after a few weeks. Our nursery (3+) still has little ones that fall asleep we just make sure they are comfy, but there are lots that don’t sleep so maybe that’s the case with your nursery.
Be consistent and he’ll be fine, I’ve seen lots of children who have cried a lot on the first week or two and now are absolutely thriving in reception

Hollytrees1 · 05/01/2024 02:05

Thanks for your replies. No they don't nap I thought there was a nap area but there isn't I just feel like a idiot for picking the wrong nursery. I've also paid up front costs for it too
