Has anyone received their code for this?
just seen in the news we can apply from today.
my child is already signed up for tax free childcare but I haven’t received a code for him for the 15 free hours and can’t see how on the .gov website to apply for a code?

Is this now for all 2 year olds?

Giltedged · 02/01/2024 08:27

I think only for working parents where both earn under £100,000, but I could be wrong. Glad to be corrected!

I've seen absolutely nothing reported on this so far today which seems a bit suspect given that it should be big news. I'm still expecting it to not happen at all to be honest as there's simply not enough providers who could afford to offer it.

The last time I saw it being spoken about it said you'd apply the same way you do for 30 hours so I'm guessing if it's not showing anything yet then they've not started implementing anything on the website.

The childcare choices website was recommending that people apply from 15th Jan - 15th Feb. Presumably because if you apply today, you'll need to reconfirm at the start of April when the funded hours actually start. So i would expect all the websites to update some time between today and the end of next week.

janfebmarchapril · 02/01/2024 08:52

I don't get why they're saying to apply now when the funding dosent come in till April anyway and you need a new code every 3 months so you can get a code now but it won't do anything you'll just have to get another in April.

Dadadaa · 02/01/2024 22:14

I'm in the same situation - will there be a way to get the code through my childcare account (I use for tax free childcare atm)? My nursery posted the link to the gov info before Xmas so think that means they will be accepting it, but I know some other nurseries have already said they won't accept it.

If you get TFC it will give you a code when you next reconfirm the TFC account

I reconfirmed my details today and the code for my 20 month old was just there, auto generated I guess.

A 20 month old wouldn't be entitled until September though, no?

From Easter, she'll be 2 by then.

She's probably older than 20 months then. The cut off for the summer term is 31st March just so you're aware.

Thanks this is really helpful. Did someone tell you this or did it automatically come up when you revalidated?

Dontdeclutterthemagic · 09/01/2024 20:17

Mine automatically came up when I revalidated my tax free childcare. (DD is 2)

Mamofoneboy · 09/01/2024 22:04

For those of you who got the code when you reconfirmed your tax free childcare do you still have access to your tax free childcare account? I can’t reconfirm until march 😬

LorlieS · 09/01/2024 22:09

Definitely will help! Saw on Martin Lewis Show just now re qualifying:
Both parents must each work 16 hours p/w min (where a couple), and household income of less than £100k
Think that's right?!
