How to remain positive in front of your kids?

Hi ,

I hope you are all well.

I was just wondering if anyone else finds it difficult to remain positive in front of kids, when your going through something yourself?

I've been going through a lot, and remaining happy and cheery when my kids are there is sometimes hard, as I don't want them to see me sad. However, sometimes it's like I just want to curl up in a ball.

Any advice?

Sorry to hear about your tough time, personally I think you don't have to put on a front as that will just numb you to your connection with them.
You have to let your feelings out to be alive. So try to find an outlet whether it's a friend or family member or a counsellor.
Also try to find some things you can do together that you enjoy, and cut out some of the surge. Easier said than done.
Take care!

Yes. Just be 'good enough', for a bit. That's all they need. Battering yourself for not being the 'perfect mum' will make you feel even worse.

For me, when I'm feeling stressed and down, it's reminding myself that I can say 'I don't know' to the odd question - without feeling shit about not being able to engage my brain and give full, academic, highly engaging answers - and that I can leave them to their own devices for a bit.

As long as they know they are loved, and safe, fed and watered, they'll be fine.

It's hard though. I've found the main feeling that comes with being a mother is guilt.

Thank you.

It's just hard, as I truly feel like I am not a mum that gives her all as of late.

I will try try to take it easy , and put myself under less pressure- somehow, if possible.
