Do I need to pump?

Hi all,

So I'm a first time mum and we have been combi feeding pretty much from day 2. My partner and I sleep in shifts so we can get some decent rest so DD is having 1-2 bottles overnight currently while I get 5-6 hours sleep.

Normally I feed her around 11.30/12 then hand over to partner who gives formula around 3/3.30 and he wakes me when she needs feeding next around 6.30/7.

I've recently read some advice that I should be pumping in the night to keep my supply up. It's not something I ever considered as this will break my sleep up but I've read that it could affect milk supply if breasts aren't stimulated every 2-3 hours during the first 6 weeks.

I don't personally feel like it's affecting anything currently as she always seems satisfied after a feed and has lots of wet nappies during the day.

Has anyone here slept in shifts or combi fed and did you pump during those bottle feeds or no? Was your milk supply affected?

We do exactly what you describe and have since about day 3. He's 11 weeks now and no issues with my supply at all.

We do the same, 6 weeks pp and no supply issues. I pump/feed every three hours from 9 am until 12 am. Little one has yet to have any formula and I have 2 drawers in freezer full of frozen milk. ☺️

How old is the baby? While milk supply is being established, it is helpful to put in an order for milk between 2-4am. However, if you're up at that hour you may as well breastfeed, I found pumping horrible and I wouldn't do it again unless necessary.
