First shoes

Hi,

My little one has started walking so we need some shoes! Does anyone have any recommendations of good brands to look at? I’d like them to be as soft and comfortable as possible and his childminder has requested waterproof ones so brands that meet those needs would be particularly good.

Thanks in advance.

I like Bobux grass court (shop around as they are pricey on the bobux website but you can often find them on sale elsewhere), or Clarks roamers are very similar.

I was shocked at the deterioration in Clark's quality, in the 15 years between my 2 babies. Even the fitting was hit and miss.

So, DC2 had Start Rite, Geox, Buckle My Shoe, Angelus and other European brands.

I became almost obsessed with keeping an eye out for sales and 'nearly new'.
He had Converse, Vans and wellies alongside a decent pair.

I'd recommend going and getting their feet measured properly and maybe some cruiser shoes?

Bobux shoes are all my 16 month old wears! Started with the super flexible Explorers and he's currently in waterproof wool lined winter boots from their Step Up range.

We use Bobux as they are cheap in the sales! For first shoes though, definitely get them measured. Bobux don’t do different widths so probably not ideal for first shoes. Start rite do different widths and lengths which will be better for developing feet.

I also have used superfit for Ds from 9month- now at 3. They have lovely flex soles but also hard wearing for climbing and running about outside.

I also by Bobux leather boots for smart. They are waterproof. They do a sole sole for smaller feet also

If you consider Bobux, do check out their website - they have 5 different ranges of shoes depending on the walking stage your child is currently at. You might then get a particular shoe or boot available in 2 different ranges - one version might be softer, more flexible with a wider toe box.

Measuring for Bobux shoes is easy since they use length of the feet in cm as sizing. I just measured his feet at home.
